Counseling services
Student Council
Your student council is usually the first and fastest point of contact for specific problems during your studies. A student council is the representative of all students in a subject and takes care of almost everything a student's heart desires: study advising, selling or lending lecture notes and exams, first semester introductions, parties, lecture evaluations, and so on. Whether you have problems with a professor, questions about your examination regulations or want to exchange experiences - your student council will help you. You can find a list of all student councils at: asta.ms/fachschaftenportal.
Social Counseling
Several times a week, you have the opportunity to get information, discuss specific concerns and find solutions to your problems, either in person at the AStA office or by phone: Be it BAföG, rent, housing allowance, living in shared apartments or dormitories, earnings limits, vacation entitlements, continued payment of wages in case of illness or questions about student health insurance. These are just a few examples that can be addressed in social counseling. Our goal is always to find an immediate solution to your problem.
You can find more information at asta.ms/sozialberatung.
Legal Counseling
Unfair rents, unapproved grants, non-admission to exams - the list of student legal problems is long and could be continued indefinitely. In order to be able to offer help to students, there is a legal advice service in the AStA, which is supposed to support students from Münster with legal problems. At fixed office hours, two competent lawyers from Münster are available to you at the AStA, who will help you with all study-related legal problems in word and deed. The legal advice offered by the AStA is free of charge. The main areas of consultation are tenancy, maintenance, examination and labor law. Registration is not required. The lawyers cannot be reached by telephone at the AStA! In most cases, a few conversations with the lawyers or a short letter is enough to solve the problem. Nevertheless, in some difficult cases a lawsuit in court cannot be avoided. In this case, the AStA supports students by granting them legal protection in individual cases.

Psychologische Beratung
You have stress in your studies, conflicts with your partner or your parents, you feel isolated or burdened and Corona is annoying? Crises and problems cannot always be overcome alone or within the social network. Then it can be helpful to seek professional help. Psychological counseling offers you support in personal and/or study-related crises and problems such as exam nerves, self-esteem problems, disorientation or inner turmoil. No matter in which subject area you currently feel uncertain or uncomfortable, you are welcome to make an appointment for an initial consultation. The counseling offers a protected environment to talk about your concerns or questions with a professionally trained counselor and supports you in your search for individual solutions and relief. The counseling sessions are free of charge for students of the University of Münster and are subject to confidentiality. Your health insurance will not be informed about the counseling.

Nightline
Nightline Münster e.V. is a voluntary association founded by Münster's students. Its task and goal is to support students in Münster and the surrounding area in all situations and especially in problematic situations - late at night, when many offers of help or friends are not available. Even though studying can be a positive experience for many, it is also often marked by anxiety, stress, loneliness, pressure to perform or even depression. No matter whether you are a first-year student or a doctoral student, 18 or 38, whether you just want to get something off your chest or whether everything is falling apart: the students on the Nightline will listen to you anonymously, confidentially and without prejudice. The fact that the people you talk to are in a similar stage of life creates a situation at eye level and thus a perfect setting to get all your worries off your chest.

The semester ticket, which the AStA regularly negotiates with Deutsche Bahn, offers students the opportunity to use a large part of the public transportation in North Rhine-Westphalia and the surrounding area. The only exceptions are express trains such as ICEs and ICs. The ticket is included in your semester fee and can be downloaded from the WWU re-registration portal after payment of the corresponding amount. It is valid for six months. First-year students can use the regional version of the semester ticket from September 1 in the winter semester and from March 1 in the summer semester, despite the printed validity from October 1 or April 1. The ticket is only valid in conjunction with a valid photo ID, or in the case of foreign students with officially certified copies of IDs.
You can find more information at asta.ms/semesterticket.
Sooner or later, most students need a functioning PC to participate in classes or to write assignments. However, not everyone has a laptop or PC with the necessary functions or has the financial means to replace a broken laptop/PC on the spot. Therefore, the AStA lends out laptops provided by the WWU-IT. In the support system (https://studentsupport-ms.de/open.phpyou can submit a request if necessary and then you will receive a free laptop for a period of at least two months.

You want to transport something that is too big for your luggage rack? Do you care about your carbon footprint and your wallet? Then we have a little everyday relief for you as a student - our new cargo bike. You can borrow it from us at AStA for free. At asta.ms/lastenrad you will find a form that you can use to reserve the cargo bike for your desired date.
Every now and then, even in a city like Münster, a bicycle is not enough - for example, if you want to transport furniture for a move. For such and other cases, the AStA offers students of the University of Münster the possibility to rent Bullis at cost price. Inquiries and reservations can be made by phone. Please bring your student ID card, identity card and driver's license with you.
